The Story
Behind Mboma
Mboma is a trusted South African herbal remedy, first created in the 1930s by Absolom Sikakana, a Lutheran preacher, healer, and community leader who treated neighbours with indigenous plants and stood in prayer at ANC rallies alongside figures like Chief Albert Luthuli in the fight for justice. In 1993, his grandson Mboniseni ‘Teddy’ Sikakana began bottling the original family formula, carrying forward this legacy of care. Named after isiHlahla si-ka-Mbôma (Mboma’s Bush), a sacred Zulu place of wellbeing, Mboma bridges past and present, supporting natural health and vitality. Now, with refreshed branding and a new make-at-home package, this herbal tonic continues to bring nearly 30 years of family healing into modern households.
